futureme.org should...

futureme.org via snail mail!

You could send yourself or your friends a future letter, to be delivered via snail mail, on the date of your choosing. Much more romantic, don't you think?

I think this would be a great idea, have users pay through paypal. There could be a cute template and a matching envelope. On a technical level it's more complicated to execute but I think it's still doable. For logistic's sake, I think that it would make sense that letters be shown here on the site like the regular email. But when it comes times users are emailed when the letters are sent as a sort of shipping notification. Since there are varying times when it comes to the postal service, it would be best to ship it ahead of time but have the when to open date written on it. Since postal time is something that cannot be controlled. The person is responsible to open it on the stated date. In order make sure letters aren't lost, users would have a to pay a little more for tracking. There could even be some sort of merchandise that could be attached as an add-on to make it a package from the past to go along with a letter. This sort of service would be considered a premium for an experience. Overall, I would personally love to send a package from the past the future or even receive a physical letter. Price could vary depending on what is safest for sending letters. The account holder could be notified via email for the process, such as the letter from the past is being prepared please wait for shipping notice with tracking. There could be a window and cutoff time for when addresses could be changed.

This has been done by someone through the JumpStart website...check it out...it may no longer be within the site, yet the site itself is a great idea.

I'd have no idea how much all of this would cost in total or how it would be operated (would the letter be sent to FutureMe, and then forwarded at the date specified?). If necessary, I personally would pay somewhere around $20, possibly more if needed, as I absolutely passionately love this idea.
